How To Disable JavaScript
JavaScript is a standard programming language that can be included in Web pages to provide functionality for menus, sounds, and other interactive features. However, JavaScript can also be used to do things that some users find undesirable, or harmful to their computer.
By default, most browsers enable JavaScript and it requires no additional installation. If you would like to disable JavaScript for security purposes, follow the instruction below for each individual browser.
Google Chrome:
- Open your Chrome browser.
- Click on the Chrome “wrench” icon, located in the upper right hand corner of your browser window.
- In the drop down menu, select Settings. The Settings page should display.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings page and click on the Show advanced settings link. The Settings page should expand to display more options.
- Locate the Privacy section and click on the Content settings button. The Content Settings should now display.
- Locate the JavaScript section, which contains two options. To disable JavaScript, select the option labeled Do not allow any site to run JavaScript.
- Click the OK button to save changes.
Mozilla Firefox:
- Open your Firefox browser.
- At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP).
- Click Options. The Options window should appear.
- In the Options window, select the Content panel.
- To disable JavaScript, uncheck the box next to the Enable JavaScript option.
- To change any advanced settings, click Advanced.
- Click the OK button to save changes.
Internet Explorer:
- Open your Internet Explorer browser.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- On the Security Tab, click Internet.
- Click Custom Level.
- Scroll down to Active Scripting.
- Click Disable.
- Click OK.
